Offcuts | Fiddleheads
Our Fiddlehead collection is the second from our Offcuts series. A family of decorative woollen pots, made using offcuts of our Stanningly cloth and our stock of yarns, which have been knitted into soft cords.
As often happens, one idea leads to the next and whilst making the knitted cords for the bound handles on our Offcuts hot water bottle covers I was inspired by the playful nature of the cords which led to further exploration. The cords naturally fall into soft loops and curls and I love the illustrative quality of these knitted ropes, which create a very different aesthetic to our other ranges.
The decorative patterns are inspired by a personal love of ferns, plants that surround us in our local landscape as well as in my own garden and home where I have an ever-growing collection. I love the slow but dramatic unfurling of the new fronds in spring, the striking display of tightly wound fiddleheads – slowing opening into intricate, delicate leaves.

Each design comes together quite freely and by the nature of the yarns we use, the colours and designs will vary across all of the pots - so your pot will most likely be one-of-a-kind.
These pots can be used for any number of storage purposes, but if using as a plant pot you will need some kind of waterproof lining between your plants and the woollen pot. I tend to re-use any plastic packaging that we receive to sit my pots in which seems to work well.
