National Trust
In Autumn 2018 we were commissioned by the National Trust as part of their Artisan and Craft collection, which was introduced in 2014 within their national retail range.
This collection aims to raise the profile of makers, helping to promote the awareness and importance of retaining craft skills within the UK. The collection has featured work from some of the best talent in contemporary craft across the UK and we were thrilled to be selected.
Inspired by the Trusts Marsden Moor estate, which is where Elizabeth is lucky enough to call home, we sourced woollen yarns influenced by the late summer, autumn colour pallet seen across the moor. The rich and varied shades of the heathers in flower and the ever-changing wind-swept skies provided a dramatic range of colours to work with.
Working with our local mill we then used these yarns to weave some bespoke lengths of cloth in a variety of thickly textured weaves which also reflected the ruggedness of the landscape.
We used the cloth to make two of our most popular Milnsbridge bags, Ethel and Martha, which were then available across a range of the Trust’s retail spaces at their sites across the UK.
