Our Marsden range of accessories has come about by working with a thriving local business, Dark Woods, who are a specialist coffee roasters based in a converted mill in the beautiful West Yorkshire village of Marsden.
We set about re-purposing their coffee sacks, which once emptied become a by-product from the industry. These well-travelled sacks are often recycled, our Elland felt for example is made from a large proportion of coffee sacks collected from across the UK, but we also wanted to use the sacks in their original form.
Made from heavy-duty woven jute fabric and printed with an amazing array of colourful graphics, each sack tells its own story of the journey it’s been on from farmer to roaster.
We collect the sacks from the lovely folk at Dark Woods, then make them into bags in our studio in Holmfirth. Each bag is made from one sack, so with two layers of heavy jute fabric going into each bag they end up being pretty tough!
